 Some versions of VMS have an old version of 'gawk'.  To access it,
 define a symbol, as follows:
 
      $ gawk :== $sys$common:[syshlp.examples.tcpip.snmp]gawk.exe
 
    This is apparently version 2.15.6, which is extremely old.  We
 recommend compiling and using the current version.
